Job Description

Job Description

Why this role might be perfect for you?

At Milestone One, we are building the digital foundation for bold growth and innovation. As our first dedicated Data Architect/Engineer, you will take the lead in defining, building, and managing our next-generation data platform, one that is secure, compliant, modular, and scalable.

You'll work closely with our IT and business to design data infrastructure and integration patterns that allow us to adapt quickly, ensure quality and compliance, and confidently grow into new domains and services.

What you'll do
  • Design and build a secure, compliant, and future-ready data architecture that supports both structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Lead the implementation of a Master Data Management (MDM) framework, ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance across systems.
  • Work hands-on with Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and other modern cloud data tools to build pipelines, models, and automations.
  • Develop data integrations across platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Dataverse, external SaaS platforms), with appropriate authentication and audit trails.
  • Implement data access and retention policies aligned with standards such as GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA++, NIS2, and EMA guidelines.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate needs into efficient and scalable data solutions.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and dashboard development to provide real-time insights and operational visibility.
  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to support our vision of a modular, dynamic, and compliant data ecosystem.
Qualifications

We're looking for a hands-on builder who can balance technical depth with strategic thinking and compliance awareness.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:
  • Proven experience in data engineering and/or data architecture in cloud-based, regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, Dataverse, Synapse, Data Factory, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience implementing Master Data Management (MDM) or enterprise data models.
  • Solid development background (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python, or .NET) and comfort working with APIs and connectors.
  • Experience working with identity and access control models, ideally in Microsoft Entra.
  • Pragmatic mindset: you can work in ambiguity and drive clarity through action and iteration.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; fluent in English.
  • Experience in life sciences, healthcare, or similar regulated industries is a strong plus.
Additional Information

What's in it for you?
  • Join at a pivotal moment, helping shape the data foundation for years to come.
  • Have a direct impact on our ability to scale and diversify offerings.
  • Work in a collaborative environment where your voice matters.
  • Flexible B2B/Contractor arrangement possible.
  • Be part of a team committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
Apply now and become the architect of our data-driven future.

Let's build something ambitious, and make it secure, scalable, and smart from day one.
