Position: Trade Compliance & Order Handling Specialist – Heppenheim, DE

Summary and Scope:

As a Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all customs procedures, including checking and processing import/export processes, preference checks, and assigning customs and tax codes to products. Your role ensures the company complies with relevant export, import, and customs laws and regulations, focusing on Germany, and involves collaboration with internal and international stakeholders. You will also support the order handling team in their daily activities.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and implement export compliance documentation and processes
• Ensure adherence to domestic and international trade regulations, including directives from regulatory authorities
• Monitor and analyze changes in global trade regulations, assessing impacts and coordinating compliance initiatives
• Provide guidance to internal departments on export control and customs matters
• Manage export control-related transactions with attention to detail
• Maintain records of export/import documentation for compliance and audit readiness
• Oversee HS code management at the SKU level for accurate classification
• Collaborate across departments to meet shipping requirements and communicate compliance updates

Regulatory Interface & Compliance Management:

• Serve as primary contact with the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA)
• Manage export licensing processes and monitor export activities
• Act as the point of contact for customs and export control with partners and authorities
• Conduct compliance reviews for transactions involving embargoed countries
• Support foreign trade audits and organizational readiness

Process Improvement & Training:

• Identify opportunities to improve export control processes
• Provide training to employees at all levels
• Maintain documentation and archiving protocols for export transactions
