Customer Support Engineer (m/w/d) for Linux and Network Administration

located in Sulzbach (Ts.) or Berlin.

Help us expand and secure critical infrastructure!

Join the team implementing the technical modernization of Germany's digital radio system, which is the backbone of all police, fire brigade, rescue, and disaster response operations in Germany.

Over a million users from police, fire services, emergency responders, and disaster management rely on this highly complex system. Work with our experts in radio technology, IT infrastructure, and network architecture to deploy and implement the latest TETRA technology, preparing the network for LTE and 5G broadband technologies.

The demanding requirements for availability and integrity of the highly redundant German digital radio are exceptional: over 99.95% availability and more than 99% coverage across Germany through over 4900 base stations.

Support us as a Customer Support Engineer (m/w/d) for Linux and Network Administration in an agile team with high-quality standards, delivering this system technology based on DevSecOps principles. Contribute significantly to public safety for German citizens.

A security clearance is required or must be obtained from recognized authorities for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Building, installing, and maintaining virtual and physical Linux servers (HP Synergy, HP Blade Center, HP Proliant, HP 3PAR Storage)
  • Knowledge of server environments (RedHat Enterprise Linux and CentOS)
  • Incident management (2nd level support for Linux systems)
  • Analysis of complex issues and problem management
  • Participation in operational release management
  • Change and configuration management
  • Responsible for documentation

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Completed IT degree or vocational training with IT focus
  • Knowledge of Linux administration (RedHat Enterprise, CentOS)
  • Networking skills (TCP/IP, switching, routing)
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, vCenter, RedHat Virtualization)
  • Independent, analytical, efficient working style, high customer and service orientation
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Driving license class B and willingness to travel occasionally
