Zusammenfassung

Kiepe Electric GmbH is seeking a Customer Service Specialist - Obsolescence to coordinate obsolescence cases and analyze their impact on fleet operations. You will work across customer service, engineering, and repair departments to ensure continuity and availability of fleets, while delivering data-driven recommendations for LCC, RAM, and economic assessments.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed degree in industrial engineering, business administration with technical focus, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of technical and economic principles relevant to railway systems.
  • Experience in obsolescence management, lifecycle management, or technical sales is advantageous.

About The Role

The Customer Service Specialist - Obsolescence (m/w/d) position is a vital part of our Customer Service team, based at Kiepe Electric GmbH. This role involves acting as a central interface between customer service, engineering, obsolescence management, and the spare parts and repair departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and evaluating obsolescence cases, analyzing the impact of component discontinuations on products, systems, vehicle fleets, and customer contracts. They will provide critical information for lifecycle cost (LCC), reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM), and economic assessments, ensuring the continuity and availability of fleet operations. Additionally, the role entails developing solutions for replacement parts, repairs, last-time-buy decisions, and technical issues to maintain optimal fleet availability. Preparing decision-making documents, creating customer-specific offers, and contributing to process improvements within Obsolescence Management are also key aspects of this position.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a completed degree in industrial engineering, business administration with a technical focus, or an equivalent qualification. A solid understanding of technical and economic principles, along with a keen interest in complex railway systems and components, is essential. Prior experience in obsolescence management, customer service, lifecycle management, or technical sales is advantageous. Basic knowledge of lifecycle cost analyses, RAM, or economic calculations will be beneficial. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills, a structured and solution-oriented work approach, and the ability to translate technical information into economically viable and customer-centric solutions. Excellent communication skills, confidence in stakeholder interactions, and proficiency in German and English are required. Competence in MS Office applications and ERP systems is also necessary.



Responsibilities


  • Serve as the primary liaison between customer service, engineering, obsolescence management, and repair/ spare parts departments to ensure smooth communication and coordination.

  • Assess and coordinate obsolescence cases, evaluating their technical and commercial implications.

  • Analyze the impact of component discontinuations on products, systems, vehicle fleets, and contractual obligations.

  • Provide detailed information for lifecycle cost (LCC), reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM), and economic evaluations.

  • Develop and propose solutions such as alternative replacement parts, repair options, last-time-buy strategies, or technical modifications to ensure fleet operational readiness.

  • Prepare comprehensive decision documents, customer-specific offers, and actionable recommendations based on technical and economic assessments.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of processes within Obsolescence Management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
