As an International Customer Project Manager, you will be the driving force behind the successful execution of a complex, large-scale project.
Our projects involves production facilities for banknotes, coins, mints, security documents and passport as well as the complete intralogistics and automation systems. You will maintain a comprehensive overview, balancing internal and external interests, and serve as the primary liaison with our clients to manage the smooth project execution from contract signing until final acceptance and beyond.
In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in delivering a major international project together with a highly skilled team of subject matters experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional project teams, serving as the central point of contact for the sub project managers, subject matter experts, internal departments, external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Represent Giesecke+Devrient in all interactions with the client’s stakeholders.
- Ensure project execution aligns with company standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage interfaces with global corporate functions, clients, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Oversee both technical and commercial aspects of the project, including reporting, cost control, contract management, and budgeting.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all project phases—from detailed engineering and manufacturing to shipping, installation, integration, commissioning, and final acceptance—ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Clarify orders with system component suppliers, defining functional, technical, and commercial scopes.
- Define work packages and prioritize tasks based on responsibilities, urgency, and project needs.
- Conduct consultations with customers and suppliers (e.g., architects, construction firms, technical service providers, and IT specialists) to clarify interfaces and responsibilities.
- Develop and manage implementation and commissioning concepts, including on-site team coordination.
- Foster strong customer relationships through proactive communication and expectation management.
- Prepare well-founded decision-making documents for senior management.
- Present project outcomes to both clients and internal leadership.
- Willingness to travel globally for project assignments even for longer durations.
Your Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Proven experience managing large-scale technical projects, e.g. plant engineering projects, ideally involving system installations.
- At least 10 years of experience in project and site management for large-scale plant projects (e.g., automated intralogistics, print works or production facilities), including leadership of international teams.
- Familiarity with the cash industry, including product portfolios, processes, and customer requirements, is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent language skills in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Strong leadership skills, organizational talent, and the ability to build and motivate teams.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Solid understanding of commercial and contractual topics.
- High level of initiative, assertiveness, and a drive for innovation.
- Customer-focused mindset with outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- You demonstrate a high level of proficiency in managing relationships with government agencies
