Zusammenfassung

kiutra seeks a Cryo Engineer to drive development of magnetic cooling systems for applied quantum technologies, from simulation to hardware prototyping and production readiness. You will contribute to research and development of magnetic refrigeration, plan hardware prototypes, and ensure quality and documentation standards are met.

The role requires hands-on cryogenic engineering experience, proficiency with CAD and FEM tools, and strong collaboration with international partners.

Qualifikationen

  • PhD or Master with 3–5 years in physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Hands-on cryogenic engineering experience (ADR, dilution refrigerators, pulse tube coolers) and/or in applied quantum technology with related mechanical/thermal/magnetic design experience.
  • Proficient with CAD software for designing and iterating mechanical assemblies through to production readiness.
  • Experience with FEM simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL) for mechanical, thermal, and/or magnetic analysis.
  • Ideally, experience with PLM systems and with quality control and release processes in a hardware development environment.
  • Structured, self-driven way of working and ability to manage multiple parallel work packages and timelines.
  • Fluent English; German language skills are a plus. On-site presence in Munich.

Aufgaben

  • You support R&D activities on magnetic refrigeration for applied quantum technologies, focusing on quantum computing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support the development and fabrication of hardware prototypes and key components.
  • Contribute to FEM simulations analyzing mechanical, thermal, and magnetic properties of the systems.
  • Create CAD models of new systems, iterate across development stages, and bring to production readiness.
  • Create, maintain, and update technical documentation for prototypes and systems.
  • Ensure tasks and work packages are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Regularly report development progress internally and to funding agencies if applicable.
  • Responsible for quality control and release processes within the PLM system, ensuring compliance with quality and release standards.

Responsibilities

Requirements
  • PhD or a completed Master's degree with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
  • Hands‑on experience in cryogenic engineering (e.g. ADR, dilution refrigerators, pulse tube coolers) and/or in applied quantum technology (e.g. quantum computing hardware), including the relevant mechanical, thermal, and magnetic design aspects
  • Proficient with CAD software for designing and iterating mechanical assemblies through to production readiness
  • Experience with FEM simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL) for mechanical, thermal, and/or magnetic analysis
  • Ideally, experience with PLM systems and with quality control and release processes in a hardware development environment
  • Structured, self‑driven way of working – you keep track of multiple parallel work packages and timelines
  • Fluent English, particularly for engaging with international partners and funding agencies; German language skills are a plus. On‑site presence in Munich
