CREDit Graduate Program Analyst Infrastructure Utilities

Grade (for internal applicants only): 9

When you join S&P Global Ratings, you join one of the world's leading providers of independent credit risk research and benchmarks. You are part of a team that produces high-quality fundamental research based on established criteria.

Our CREDit Graduate Program is a two-year training and development opportunity with our next intake joining us in September 2025. CREDit Program Analysts are hired for a specific practice; however, they are expected to transition between practices as dictated by business demands. In their first year, CREDit analysts focus on acquiring skills and knowledge from their home practice. In their second year, CREDit analysts gain exposure to other practices through a mix of classroom training, small projects, or short-term secondments. All analysts combine practical work experience with the completion of a relevant qualification, such as the CFA.

The Practice :

Infrastructure : As CREDit Analysts in Infrastructure, you will work in a truly global practice consisting of over 120 analysts in 24 cities, where global expertise is effectively leveraged. You will have the opportunity to work with issuers in the European Utilities Sector. You will develop understanding of various regulatory frameworks across European countries, gain expertise in financial modeling related to corporate criteria, and assess potential support from related governments—a unique opportunity to work across multiple criteria at S&P. You will support the ratings process from initial meetings with top management to working on financial models and participating in final rating committees alongside sector experts. Responsibilities include financial modeling, drafting articles for publication, and developing analytical opinions.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Conduct credit and recovery analysis for services provided to corporate, institutional, and governmental clients, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of organizations, focusing on their ability to meet financial obligations for traditional credit-based products and structured banking transactions. Provide timely and precise quarterly financial statistics and data analysis.
  • Assist in reporting, research, and presentation development, leveraging analytical skills to support research and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the team on improvements and ad-hoc writing projects, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Note: While initial practice allocations are granted, analysts may be transitioned between practices based on business needs post-program.
What Were Looking For :

Required Qualifications and Experience :

  • Completion of a minimum undergraduate degree by August 2025 with a strong academic record.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • A proactive mindset and adaptability, essential for thriving in a dynamic environment influenced by advancements in AI and technology.
  • Intellectual curiosity with a keen interest in learning and applying new knowledge in credit analysis.
  • Ability to conduct independent analysis and research, showing initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Strong relationship-building skills emphasizing collaboration and effective communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong listening skills and the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, time management, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Fluency in English and the primary language of the hiring location (German).

Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience :

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C, R, VBA, and/or MATLAB, showcasing technical proficiency.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies or tools, including Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Robotic Process Automation, reflecting a forward-thinking approach.
  • A Master's degree in a related subject is preferred.
