Your role as a Risk Underwriter (RUW) involves supporting the GCS team with risk analysis of corporate obligors and assessing complex transaction structures in corporate trade finance and non-trade finance. You will also be responsible for making or preparing independent credit decisions in collaboration with the Client Relationship & Risk Manager (CRRM).

  • Analyze the creditworthiness of corporate obligors and evaluate complex financing structures in corporate trade finance and non-trade (un)secured lending, focusing on both single risks and portfolio transactions with an emphasis on underwriting quality.
  • Prepare internal credit applications, provide informed recommendations, and explain decisions to internal stakeholders.
  • Determine risk appetite for major individual risks and large transactions involving multiple cedents.
  • Monitor existing portfolios to identify significant risks early and initiate appropriate risk measures.
  • Collaborate closely with CRRM and participate in client meetings for specific deals or due diligence.
  • Assist in developing strategic growth initiatives and new business opportunities.
  • Support efforts to improve existing tools, credit risk management systems, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferably in business, economics, or a scientific focus, or equivalent training (e.g., banking traineeship with further education).
  • Several years of professional experience in corporate risk analysis and finance; experience in emerging markets (especially Asia) is advantageous.
  • Strong product knowledge in corporate trade finance (e.g., receivables and payables finance) is beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk management in banks, including rating methodologies, and an interest in economic, political, and regulatory topics (especially ESG).
  • Excellent analytical skills, risk awareness, responsibility, and the ability to justify decisions clearly.
  • Strong team player with a confident demeanor, capable of contributing in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Power BI.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal; additional languages are a plus.
