About the area:

The Corporate Credit Risk unit at BBVA Frankfurt is an integral part of the Global Risk Management – EMEA team. Its main function is to deliver best-in-class credit analysis of corporate clients, monitor the local portfolio, and ensure the safety and soundness of wholesale lending through risk policy management.

About the role:

As a Corporate Credit Risk Associate, you will be responsible for:

  1. Assessing the credit and financial strength of BBVA’s clients by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties, using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  2. Preparing, submitting for approval, and presenting Financial Programs at relevant Credit Committees through appropriate discretion processes.
  3. Approving utilization of sanctioned limits within your discretion.
  4. Ensuring the establishment and effectiveness of credit policies and risk limits, and compliance with risk appetite.
  5. Supporting and providing guidance to other units within BBVA.
What are we looking for?

Previous experience and technical knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Management, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrable financial services experience, including credit experience in Banking, Consulting, Credit Risk Management, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Credit Processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding key financial components (liquidity position, leverage profile, etc.) and the ability to form independent opinions on credit, recognizing emerging risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of banking products and sustainability is desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English.
  • German and Spanish are highly valuable.

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, comfortable communicating with internal and external stakeholders within risk management and other divisions.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to work under time pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
