We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer passionate about data center operations and automation. Responsibilities include supporting and developing control system designs, sequence development, hardware integration, and engineering specifications. You’ll apply creative problem-solving skills to develop scalable solutions, caring deeply about customer satisfaction and simple, effective solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a broad background in data center or critical environment control systems, IT infrastructure, networking, programming, mechanical and electrical power monitoring, and demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Key job responsibilities

• Deep knowledge of critical infrastructure, building operations, control diagrams, HVAC, electrical line-ups, and environmental concepts.
• Lead collaboration with construction, operation, commissioning, software development, and sourcing teams.
• Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, testing and modifying software in multiple languages.
• Oversee hardware installation quality, review proposals, and support commissioning.
• Experience with data center redundancy, failure strategies, energy/water conservation, and data analytics.
• Operate effectively in high-security environments while maximizing productivity.
• Innovate solutions supporting team and company goals.
• Create and maintain project specifications and support controls product development.
• Interact with AWS cloud services for data management and analysis.
• Travel up to 50% or more for project deployment support.

About the team

The team is based in Frankfurt, Germany, responsible for mechanical and electrical control system provisioning, configuration, commissioning, and maintenance to meet AWS capacity commitments.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Codesys.
• 5+ years in controls engineering, including programming, start-up, and commissioning of critical systems.
• 3+ years designing or contributing to control and monitoring projects.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Project management experience with successful on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Experience with Linux systems.
• Design and integration experience with Industrial IoT solutions.
• Ability to coordinate large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Data Center Facilities Infrastructure and Industry standards.
