Shape the Future of Climate Tech with Phlair!
Fossil fuels have powered our economy for decades—at the cost of pollution and a changing climate. At Phlair, we’re reversing that equation. With our cost-efficient, scalable electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, we pull CO₂ from the air to either store it permanently or repurpose it into CO₂-negative chemicals. Join us in enabling a carbon-negative future.
Why We’re Different?
We’ve developed a breakthrough hydrolizer for acid/base regeneration, enabling scalable CO₂ capture. With partners like Frontier Climate, Stripe, and Shopify, we’re on track to make a global impact.
Our Project Dawn is our flagship initiative, setting the foundation to scale our technology and remove millions of tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere. We're one of the only seven DAC companies with a proven offtake agreement. Phlair is poised to become a technology leader, leveraging renewable energy and low-cost DAC to provide clean energy solutions that go beyond carbon removal.
Your Mission at Phlair
Design and implement robust, safe, reliable control systems for our test stands. You’ll be hands-on with instrumentation and automation that drives next-gen DAC tech.
You will:
- Build, test, and operate instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, gas sensors, etc.) for high-quality process monitoring.
- Develop safety control loops and lead HAZOP and risk assessments.
- Design and implement remote-controlled systems to operate and monitor test stand controls.
- Own data acquisition, process control software for plant optimization and automation.
- Prepare and manage all control drawings, P&IDs, specs, and procurement.
- Own the preparation of instrumentation and control drawings, specifications, and procurement.
- Collaborate side-by-side with our Science & Engineering teams to keep process, ops, and automation tightly synced.
What You Bring To The Team
- Deep understanding of Control Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
- 5+ years in Control Systems, Instrumentation, Automation, or Electrical Engineering (chemical, petrochemical, or similar industries).
- Hands-on experience with lab, pilot, or demo-scale setups.
- Strong skills in:
- Graphical programming (LabVIEW)
- PLCs (Beckhoff, Siemens S7, TIA Portal)
- HMI/SCADA, process visualization
- Industrial comms (Profibus, Profinet, OPC UA)
- Instrumentation (flow, pressure, gas sensors)
- Familiar with gas-phase instrumentation, safety-rated systems (SIL, functional safety), and reactor instrumentation in chemical process environments
Essential Traits
- Clear, analytical thinker. You spot problems fast, communicate clearly, and find practical solutions.
- Hands-on and adaptable. You thrive in fast-moving, agile teams and stay proactive when things get messy.
Great to have, but optional
- Additional experience with microcontrollers, pump control, measurement and control technologies, and CAD tools
