Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Germany is seeking a Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer for HVDC. You will lead commissioning activities of Control and Protection and SCADA at customer sites, manage hand-over and trial operations, and interact directly with customers to develop HVDC expertise and travel globally.

This role requires a proactive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to learn, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge HVDC projects and contribute to the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in Control and Protection or SCADA scope from design or testing stages.
• Experience from AC substations or HVDC technology.
• Experience in commissioning work in plants of different sizes, complexities, and technologies.
• Experience with IEC61850, HVDC projects; IED relays programming is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; strong communication and teamwork.
• Ability to work according to relevant legislations and standards with pragmatic approach.
• Capacity to handle many parallel activities.

Responsibilities

• Organize and execute testing and commissioning activities, including equipment organization.
• Assist in technical discussions with the client and consultants.
• Be informed about the scope and division of work.
• Ensure changes are identified and communicated to the Commissioning Manager.
• Meet commitments to the customer in accordance with the contract.
• Support tender work for commissioning scope.
• Analyze disturbances during commissioning and operation.

Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer for HVDC

As a Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer you will be part of HVDC unit. You will get involved to the later stages of system test in Hitachi Energy premises. You will lead the commissioning activities of Control and Protection and SCADA at customer’s premises. You will be part of the hand-over and trial operation of HVDC links. You will have a direct interface with our customers. You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in HVDC technology, lead some of the most interesting projects in the energy field and you will have the opportunity to travel the world.

For this role we are looking for engineers with different levels of experience. Most important for this role is your personality a proactive attitude and willingness to learn and explore new areas. Good teamwork and collaboration skills are crucial to succeed in the role.

Your Responsibilities

• You organize and execute activities related to testing and commissioning work including responsibility for organizing test equipment.
• You assist in technical discussions with the client and the client’s consultants.
• You are well informed about the Scope and Division of Work.
• You ensure that all changes are identified and communicated to the Commissioning Manager.
• You assure that commitments to the customer are met and in accordance with the contract.
• You support in tender work for commissioning scope.
• You participate and analyze any disturbances that may occur on the system during the commissioning and operation.

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience form Control and Protection or SCADA scope from design or testing project stages.
• Experience from AC sub-stations or HVDC technology.
• Experience in Commissioning work in plants of different sizes, complexities, and technologies.
• Experience with MACH, IEC61850, HVDC projects, programming of IED relays is an advantage.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to coach others in the commissioning area.
• Ability to work according to relevant legislations and standards but with a pragmatic and smooth way of working.
• Capacity to handle many parallel activities.
