WHO WE ARE
The Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) is a global network working towards a just and waste-free world without incineration. GAIA’s mission is to catalyze a global shift towards environmental justice by strengthening grassroots social movements that advance solutions to waste and pollution. We envision a just, zero waste world built on respect for ecological limits and community rights, where people are free from the burden of toxic pollution, and resources are sustainably conserved, not burned or dumped.
THE ROLE
In collaboration with the Program and Network Systems Manager, the Contractor will develop a digital asset management solution (within Google Drive) that enables GAIA to better organize, store, and distribute digital; assets such as images, videos, documents, and other content. This role can be based anywhere. The contract range is 4 months with the possibility of becoming part-time (Sept -Dec 2025) up to 20 hours/week.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
File Structure Management & Archive
- Develop an audit of media files across the organization
- This will entail collaborating with communications staff in different parts of the world
- Develop digital media files storage infrastructure and naming protocols;
- Roll out media files storage infrastructure and protocols
- Managing asset access (setting up user groups and permissions)
- Prepare detailed guidelines for staff
- Training users/staff
- Support regional comms staff and global comms team in full implementation
- Support regional comms staff and global comms team in full implementation
- Organizing and cataloguing assets
- Implementing and enforcing metadata strategies
- File naming and maintenance
WHO YOU ARE
Specifically, this hire will bring:
- At least 2 years of professional work experience, ideally in a network and organizational infrastructure, and ideally in a highly collaborative environment.
- Project management skills, the role intersects with different departments. Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential.
- Technical skills, familiarity with certain software and systems will be needed to develop this project.
- Analytical skills, as the person in charge of file naming, organizational structure, maintenance, and cataloging, an analytical way of thinking is crucial to this position.
- Ability to keep confidentiality and discretion on sensitive issues and projects.
- Proactive and independent.
- Skills in working with coworkers located in multiple countries and regions
- Able to bring patience and kindness in supporting staff with a wide range of technology savviness
- Experience in program operations and organizational support.
- Skill in creating and maintaining clear, well-defined systems and processes, with an eye on continuous process improvement.
- Ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and maintain efficiency in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and to communicate effectively when additional support is needed

COMPENSATION, LOCATION, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The contract range is $20 – $25/hourly.
- Currently, some of our team is working hybrid, and others are working remotely.
- Work is performed both independently and collaboratively. Work is performed on a computer, requires almost constant use of a keyboard, mouse, or other pointing device, and may be performed sitting or standing.
