Site Safety & Health Officer - SSHO

REPORTS TO: Director of Construction
I. Purpose of the Position
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will promote safety standards across all operations of Ameritech Contracting. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, audits, safety training, investigating incidents, and fostering a safety culture.
II. Qualification Requirements
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification + 5+ years of construction safety experience.
- 3+ years of safety experience plus one of the following certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Safety and Health Technician (CSHT), or a degree in safety and health.
III. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections of the site and subcontractors' work.
- Perform weekly documented inspections with subcontractor safety representatives.
- Report findings and corrective actions weekly to the ACE Contracting Officer.
- Monitor safety during excavation, trenching, and shoring activities.
- Collaborate with project teams and conduct safety meetings and training.
- Maintain safety documentation and reports.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance and mentor safety staff.
IV. Qualifications of the Position
- Experience managing safety with multiple subcontractors.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to analyze safety risks and enforce safety standards.
V. Additional Qualifications
- Previous safety experience on ACE projects.
- 5+ years in construction safety management.
- OSHA Competent Person certification in relevant areas.
- Familiarity with EM 385 Safety Manual and Procore or similar tools.
