Job summary

Large Space Structures GmbH is seeking a Configuration Manager to safeguard the consistency and traceability of product configurations across development and delivery of space systems.

You will lead CM activities, maintain baselines, manage data in ERP/PLM/PDM, and drive end-to-end traceability with stakeholders in a fast-paced, space-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering or similar field.
• 5+ years of experience in Configuration management, preferably in ESA projects.
• Strong understanding of system engineering and product lifecycle and experience with hardware configuration control.
• Familiarity with space project phases (Phase 0/A → F) gained in the European space industry.
• Knowledge of ECSS standards (CM, PA/QA and System Engineering).
• Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Own the configuration management process across the complete product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ECSS and company standards.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve CM policies, procedures and strategies in compliance with ECSS, ISO and applicable customer requirements.
• Establish and maintain configuration baselines, version control and configuration status accounting for all product and design data.
• Lead change management activities, including Change Control Boards (CCB), Engineering Change Requests (CR), Requests for Deviation (RFD) and Requests for Waiver (RFW).
• Manage configuration and technical data within ERP/PLM/PDM systems, ensuring accuracy, integrity and accessibility.
• Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, as designed configuration, released products and as built configuration.
• Ensure consistency between released technical documentation and participate in review / release processes.
• Generate configuration metrics, reports and status updates to support reviews, audits and management decision-making.

We are looking for a Configuration Manager (m/w/d) with a background in space engineering to support our team. As a Configuration Manager, you will safeguard the consistency, traceability, and controlled evolution of product configurations throughout the development and delivery of complex space systems.

Your Tasks

• Own the configuration management process across the complete product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ECSS and company standards.

Your Profile

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering or similar field.
• 5+ years of experience in Configuration management, preferably in ESA projects.
• Strong understanding of system engineering and product lifecycle and experience with hardware configuration control.
• Strong understanding of both the overall system architecture, detailed subsystem interactions, detailed designs and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with space project phases (Phase 0/A → F) gained in the European space industry
• Knowledge of ECSS standards (especially CM, PA/QA and System Engineering)
• High attention to detail and structured and analytical thinking
• Ability to quickly understand complex technical systems and their dependencies.
• Strong documentation, communication and time management skills
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken);
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Apps, DOORS and other required software
• Strong team spirit and ability to interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams and international partners
