Our division prevents, detects, and mitigates compliance, regulatory, and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm’s culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm’s second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm’s compliance, regulatory, and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules, and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures, and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils, and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm’s responses to regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries. You will be part of a team with members from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. We seek individuals with sound judgment, curiosity, and adaptability to a changing regulatory landscape.

YOUR IMPACT

The role we are recruiting for is within the Regulatory Affairs team of the Compliance function based in Frankfurt, providing coverage for Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE (GSBE) and its European branches. This role will support the Chief Compliance Officer in maintaining the Compliance program for GSBE’s activities and assist with core Compliance tasks as required by MaComp and MaRisk. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Notifications to regulators
  • Facilitating regulatory inquiries
  • Supporting regulatory examinations
  • Conducting Compliance training
  • Supporting regular and ad hoc reporting to governance forums
  • Coordinating governance documentation of GSBE
  • Supporting project management and board reporting

EXPERIENCE

  • University degree
  • First professional compliance or financial services experience required
  • Basic knowledge of the European regulatory environment for Compliance (e.g., ESMA GL, EBA GL, MaComp, MaRisk)
  • Good interpersonal and effective written/oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Fluent in English and German
