Senior Compliance Officer (Freelance) – Germany

PCN is representing an innovative fintech client in need of a Senior Compliance Officer to join their team on a freelance basis for 6 months!

Our client is a leading embedded banking technology company, enabling software providers to seamlessly integrate banking services such as accounts, cards, and payments into their platforms. Trusted by numerous fast-growing businesses, they process billions in transactions monthly and operate under strict regulatory oversight as a licensed financial institution in Europe.

The Opportunity

This is a key compliance role within a fast-paced fintech environment where you’ll ensure regulatory adherence and help shape compliance frameworks aligned with evolving legal requirements in Germany.

What You’ll Do

• Monitor, interpret, and implement regulatory changes impacting operations in Germany
• Act as the primary liaison with German regulatory authorities, including BaFin
• Lead preparation and submission of regulatory documentation and reports
• Support compliance investigations and escalations
• Provide regulatory insights and risk assessments on new business initiatives and products
• Oversee local compliance controls including suspicious activity monitoring and reporting
• Maintain and update compliance documentation and procedures
• Conduct regulatory watch to keep the business informed and compliant with German banking supervision

Your Profile

• 5+ years experience in compliance within a financial institution, ideally fintech or similarly dynamic sectors
• Strong knowledge of German banking regulations and payments landscape
• Fluent in German and English, with excellent communication and writing skills
• Analytical, resourceful, and solution-oriented mindset
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions
• Comfortable operating in a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team environment
