Community Specialist

We are seeking a strategic community management and operations expert to join the International Community team and help grow globally beyond the US. As an integral part of the team, this role plays a key part in realizing our mission: bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world.

As the Community Manager, you will be at the forefront of jumpstarting and fostering local communities. You will be an expert in the German market, proficient in English, and focused on proactive initiatives to build bridges with local volunteer moderators. You will innovate, iterate, refine, and scale our international consumer playbook. The insights from your relationships and experiments will help accelerate our growth in Germany.

Responsibilities :

1. Gain a deep understanding of the market to identify user and moderator challenges, as well as market opportunities.
2. Iterate, innovate, and scale the consumer growth playbook by recognizing new opportunities, suggesting bold ideas and programs, and persuading internal teams to align on new plans.
3. Build strategic plans to cultivate, recruit, educate, and grow a local community of moderators (volunteers who develop, maintain, and shape the culture of local communities). Implement a conversion funnel to onboard power users and external creators, transforming them into active moderators.
4. Communicate quantitative and qualitative insights to optimize and improve the international consumer growth playbook.
5. Achieve aggressive goals and outcomes obsessively.
6. Analyze data, set KPIs, and execute impactful community initiatives. Leverage data to uncover community and moderator insights that will influence the local team’s direction in the market.
7. Work cross-functionally with Product, Community, Engineering, Marketing, Safety, and Business Development teams.

What We Can Expect From You :

1. 5+ years of experience in community development, project management, growth, operations, or product consulting, with a track record of community-led projects that have driven business impact.
2. Deep knowledge of German culture, including current events, politics, customs, traditions, language, topics of interest, and taboos.
3. Nuanced understanding of the digital landscape and cultural intricacies, including internet culture specific to Germany and DACH countries, with an appreciation for diverse societal facets.
4. Effective and persuasive communication skills to collaborate across teams, users, moderators, partners, content creators, and influencers.
5. Results-oriented with outstanding execution and high attention to detail.
6. Strong interest in developing and driving projects, framing issues, seeking solutions, testing hypotheses, and iterating on processes.
7. Proficiency in German and English, based in the EU timezone.
