We are seeking to expand our Amazon Machinery Safety Compliance Inspection team with Safety Engineers to influence the safe design and operation of Amazon's cutting-edge technology across our facilities. One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors, encouraging employees to proactively manage their health and well-being. To support this, Amazon is seeking Machinery Safety Compliance Engineers to join the High-Risk Operations team. These individuals will play a critical role in ensuring safety standards are integrated into systems and processes across various centers in Europe.

The successful candidates will conduct equipment inspections against set criteria to identify safety improvements. The role requires knowledge of EU machinery safety standards, PUWER / UWED regulations, and the ability to engage with cross-functional teams, translating this knowledge into compliant processes for the EU network. Location involves a mix of on-site and office work, with travel up to 60-70%.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Support facilities by performing risk assessments of machinery and equipment at legacy and new sites.
  2. Develop solutions meeting Amazon's safety, risk reduction, efficiency, and operational standards.
  3. Manage inspection team involvement with projects, adjusting schedules as needed.
  4. Review corrective measures and implement controls within inspection tools.
  5. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and real estate teams.
  6. Prioritize support requests to meet operational needs and support safety objectives.
  7. Contribute to project planning and act as a machinery safety advisor.
  8. Maintain data for inspection programs and plan travel efficiently.
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience in machinery inspection and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of robotics and material handling equipment.
  • Understanding of EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and standards.
  • Experience with risk assessments and managing safety inspections.
  • Ability to influence organizational safety strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with Notified or Approved bodies for Machinery Safety.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or similar certification.
  • Formal training in Machinery Safety (e.g., CMSE).
  • Experience with lean principles and process improvements.
  • TUV Certified Functional Safety Engineer.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing projects independently.
