Overview

Mercury is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join our site team on a large Data Centre construction project in Frankfurt. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in cost management and quantity surveying, with experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead the project Commercial Team and provide support to the construction team on all commercial and quantity surveying functions.
• Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice and monitoring to the construction team.
• Identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting to management.
• Compile monthly progress applications with accurate remeasure, site variations, dayworks or claims.
• Procurement – operational procurement activity and contract support, in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations, and final account.
• Forecast turnover and cash flow for the projects.
• Review and commercially manage all projects to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
• Identify, analyse, and report on trends within the Business & Projects; provide data and analysis of issues & risks as required by Management.
• Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and accurate budgeting.
• Lead, support, and coach commercial team members in best practice quantity surveying and cost management methods.
• Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and/or subcontractors to identify contractually critical items and initiate replies.
• Ensure Construction Team adheres to all Contractual Requirements and provide advice and monitoring of same.
• Ensure reporting is in line with Group Policies and highlight exceptions to Management.
• All other duties associated with this role.

Essential Criteria

• Relevant third level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent (e.g., engineering) with commercial experience.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience post qualification with General Contractor experience.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent IT Skills (SAP experience is an advantage).
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Must have excellent English language skills.

Desirable Criteria

• Data centre experience.
• CSA and MEP experience.
