Are you a commercially focused Legal Counsel with a strong understanding of international contract law and a passion for strategic legal advisory? A leading multinational organisation in the offshore engineering and energy sector is seeking a proactive and skilled Legal Counsel to join their team and support key operations across Europe and beyond.

This is a confidential opportunity to work in a high-impact legal role, advising on complex contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters in a fast-paced, international environment.

The Opportunity

As Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role in managing legal risk, advising on commercial contracts, and supporting a variety of operational, procurement, and business development activities. You will be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team and provide expert advice on a range of legal issues affecting the business across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements, including service contracts, framework agreements, subcontracts, and NDAs.
• Provide legal and strategic support to commercial, tendering, and operational teams.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and contractual risks.
• Deliver legal advice across a wide range of topics including intellectual property, data protection, dispute resolution, and corporate governance.
• Support compliance with EU, UK, and international laws and industry standards.
• Manage disputes and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
• Coordinate cross-functional input from insurance, tax, procurement, and operations teams.
• Provide legal training and promote best practices across the organisation.

About You

• Qualified lawyer with a Master’s degree in Law from Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, or another comparable jurisdiction.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as in-house legal counsel or in private practice, ideally within engineering, construction, energy, renewables, or similar sectors.
• Proven experience in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
• Familiarity with standard contract forms (e.g. LOGIC, FIDIC, NEC, IMCA) is highly desirable.
• Strong communicator with the ability to explain legal concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Self-driven and organised, with excellent negotiation and risk assessment skills.
• Comfortable working independently and across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in offshore renewable energy or oil and gas is a plus.

Work Location, Flexibility & Travel

This role offers a high level of flexibility. Candidates can choose to work remotely, with the option to visit the offices once or twice a month, or more frequently if preferred.

Occasional travel may be expected depending on business needs, but overall, remote work is fully supported.
