Role Summary :

The Commercial Cost Manager is responsible for driving the best cost for medium to high-profile clients requiring market-level industry expertise and an in-depth understanding of the competitive telecommunications market. This role operates within the Supplier Management department, which manages vendor agreements and supplier relationships throughout their lifecycle. We provide GTT sales and network teams with vendor capabilities for service delivery at optimal costs.

Job Scope :

This role interacts with Sales, Sales Engineering, Supplier Management, and Quoting Management teams.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Review Telecom Access costing for specific clients and opportunities, allocating costs based on team needs to locations off-net to the GTT backbone and Metro networks.
  • Maintain day-to-day relations with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes aligned with technical requirements for customer solutions.
  • Review customer technical requirements against supplier cost responses, ensuring the most suitable products are quoted.
  • Facilitate large bid reviews with suppliers, ensuring GTT leads with competitive costing.
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers, seeking reductions and discounts on bundled deals prior to orders.
  • Ensure timely tail quotes, accurate RFS dates, and balance cost, delivery times, and quality.
  • Maintain a database of quotes to estimate budgets quickly and track similar requests from different parties.
  • Provide feedback to Sales and presales teams on project and technical details, as well as carrier commercial matters.
  • Assist with administrative tasks like filing historical data as needed.
  • Produce reports to keep quotes updated and measure vendor performance.
  • Escalate supplier issues as necessary.
  • Review large client renewal opportunities with recommendations to the Account Team.
Required Experience / Qualifications :
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, including prices, products, and technical details.
  • Experience in local telecom market analysis and supplier cost comparison.
  • 7+ years’ experience in quoting/pricing telecom roles with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with good planning skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Windows applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Desirable Experience / Qualifications :
  • Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Local Access Network Technologies and Transport technologies (SDH, MPLS, Ethernet, xDSL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with relevant supplier markets, products, and technologies.
