COBOL Developer (m / f / d)

Join PHOENIX, a leading pharmaceutical distributor in Germany and Europe, with operations across 29 countries, 48,000 colleagues, and millions of patients served. We are seeking a COBOL Developer (m / f / d) for our IT & Digital Competence Center in Mannheim or Fürth.

Your Tasks

1. Further develop existing applications to optimize COBOL processes and system landscape.
2. Analyze customer requirements and create development concepts.
3. Develop and maintain applications, focusing on WMS (order picking, inventory, stock bookings).
4. Support users across European branches as part of 3rd level support.
5. Evaluate and implement new technologies to optimize development tools.
6. Lead discussions on technical solutions to solve complex mainframe challenges.

Your Profile

• Degree in (business) informatics or comparable IT training.
• Experience in software development using COBOL on mainframe environments (e.g., IBM z / VSE 6.2, CICS / TS 1.1.1, COBOL FOR VSE / ESA 1.1.1, VSAM) or extensive COBOL experience.
• Experience in WMS environment (stock bookings, picking, inventory processes) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills, independent, structured, and quality-oriented work approach.
• Ability to coordinate and understand user needs.
• Proficient in German and English, both written and spoken.
• Good knowledge of software architecture and enterprise frameworks.
• Assembler knowledge is a plus.
