ABOUT BEAM

Beam is a Berlin-based startup company builder with a bias for (intra-)logistics and technical challenges. We are supported by BEUMER Group – a family business and one of the world’s leading intralogistics companies. We offer pre-seed funding; access to potential customers; solid launch support, and, above all, validated business opportunities for those who want to launch a startup.

European logistics companies turn over more than €1,300B annually, making logistics the fourth largest industry in Europe. Startups are only beginning to scratch the surface of the transformation made possible by applying software to business problems, and Beam is a part of this change.

We are searching for candidates to join one of our pre-seed startups, pioneering advancements in foundational learning models for humanoid robotics, particularly for dynamic and unpredictable logistics environments.

The solution we have in mind ensures robots will eventually:

1. Perform essential tasks in unstructured environments where layouts and human activities vary.
2. Deliver task-specific value built on the capabilities of current foundational models (like Nvidia’s GR00T), which excel in general tasks but require further specialization for complex logistics workflows.
3. Collaborate autonomously with automation systems, such as BEUMER’s conveyors, allowing seamless interaction with machinery, human workers, and other robots.

Our solution will create Large Action Models (LAMs) tailored to specific logistics tasks, allowing humanoids to:

1. Utilize proprietary data from BEUMER and Beam, such as footage of parcel flows and insights from warehouse operators, to reduce learning hours.
2. Integrate with modular AI training frameworks, making humanoids versatile and capable of synchronizing with sortation systems, parcel patterns, and dynamic workflows.
3. Operate with OEM-agnostic software, enabling cost-effective and scalable deployment across diverse logistics environments.

YOU'LL BE THE PERFECT MATCH IF

1. You’ve worked with AI for autonomous navigation and task optimization.
2. Experience with robotics system architecture.
3. Multi-sensor integration and human-robot interaction.
4. You have an impressive track record of running your startups or as a mid-size or larger company unit manager.
5. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and bring an excellent leadership mindset.
6. You have a network in logistics technology or supply chain technology.
7. You want to be part of building something special - together with us.
8. First funding experience is a plus.
