About the role

Local Unit & Position Description

Area Germany is part of the Maritime Region West Europe. The Area offers Maritime classification services through ~120 committed employees in eight German locations, with its headquarters in Hamburg. Services delivered are Newbuilding (NB) as well as Classification and Verification of Material and Components (CMC/VMC), while Fleet in Service (FiS) is organized in a separate service line across the Region.

We are looking for a CMC/ VMC Surveyor to join our team in the Passau area, reporting to the local Team Lead.

Main responsibilities:
  • Certification and verification of materials and components for marine and offshore applications under class and non-class related systems and processes
  • Assessment and auditing of production capabilities at manufactures acc. to different maritime schemes
  • Managing our clients together with other relevant parts of our organization and technical responsibility for individual selected customers, as well as sales supporting activities together with the DNV line management
  • Project-orientated work - cooperation in interdisciplinary verification projects
  • Marketing work for identifying additional VMC opportunities

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical/marine/ Naval Engineering (or other relevant disciplines)
  • Valid qualification and good knowledge as CMC/VMC Surveyor, desirable
  • Valid qualification as Welding Engineer, desirable
  • Experience within the Maritime industry
  • Valid driver’s license required and acceptable driving record meeting company requirements
  • Depending on technical profile, we will be willing to support your competence development to obtain the necessary MTAS elements
