Clinical Pharmacy Technician for GP Practice

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and service-oriented Pharmacy Technician to work within our friendly Pharmacy Team in a large and progressive GP practice serving 39,000 patients.

Using your clinical and technical knowledge of medicines management processes, you will help resolve medication-related queries, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, improve patient outcomes, and support the improvement of access to healthcare. You will assist with medication safety monitoring systems and audits, process discharge/clinic letters from secondary care, conduct medicines reconciliation and optimisation activities, and support the Practice in delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job

Role Responsibilities - Pharmacy Technician and PCN Pharmacy Technician

1. Deliver clinical pharmacy services, including processing discharge/clinic letters from secondary care.
2. Perform medicines improvement work to maximise safe, cost-effective, and best practices in prescribing under the supervision of clinical pharmacists.
3. Assist with medication safety monitoring systems (e.g., high-risk drugs).
4. Liaise with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve medicine-related queries.
5. Monitor practice prescribing and adherence to PCN policies, as well as local and national prescribing guidelines.
6. Improve service quality through mechanisms such as audits.
7. Support clinical pharmacists in Structured Medication Reviews.
8. Maintain a good understanding of Pharmacy Technician working standards.
9. Bring prior experience as a Practice Pharmacy Technician focused on delivering excellent clinical care.

As an onsite Pharmacy Technician, you will confidently act within professional standards and boundaries, supporting and working alongside your General Practice team, as well as Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians within TPN. You will help resolve medication-related queries, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, improve patient outcomes, and support the improvement of access to healthcare.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate confidence in contacting patients and carers to provide advice and information. They should be able to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to meet patient needs. Applicants must have a pharmacy technician qualification (NVQ level 3 equivalent). NHS or GP practice experience is desirable. Excellent communication and IT skills are required.
