Job Description

Primary Function of Position :

The Clinical Applications Engineer (CAE) reports to the Manager of Clinical Applications Engineering. The CAE plays a critical role in the early adoption of new technology, expanding access to robotic minimally invasive care. This individual will focus on building and supporting early users through their system learning curve and provide technical expertise during clinical procedures. They will help transition users from initial training to proficiency and offer guidance to design engineering on system usage nuances within their market.

Roles and Responsibilities :
  1. Provide procedural support to new robotic system sites to promote safety and effective progression.
  2. Collaborate with US Clinical Applications Engineering to support new users through their early learning curve.
  3. Provide expert clinical product and technical assistance and training to physicians and clinical staff during clinical procedures.
  4. Identify concerns for clinical users regarding procedure adoption and work with training and development teams to address them.
  5. Maintain open communication with the US Clinical Applications Engineering team and development teams.
  6. Work with peers and engineering partners to develop and share best practices and product feedback.
  7. Stay current on product instructions for use (IFU), best practices, troubleshooting, scientific literature, and new product info.
  8. Prioritize and respond to requests effectively in high-stress environments.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :

  1. Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or healthcare-related field.
  2. At least 3 years of technical or clinical healthcare experience.
  3. Experience supporting procedures and navigating hospital environments.
  4. Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and adapt in dynamic settings.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  6. Excellent collaboration skills, especially in remote teams.
  7. Proficient in English, both spoken and written, with strong communication skills.
  8. Experience working with complex technical systems or in critical patient care settings.
  9. Ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights.
  10. Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  11. Ability to travel up to 60%, including nights and weekends as needed, and support cases across different locations on short notice.
  12. Fluency in German is required.
