In 2020, the FSC members approved Motion 20, urging FSC to prioritize Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss in implementing the Global Strategy.

The Climate Biodiversity & Restoration Manager will support the Senior CBR Manager to ensure conceptual alignment and operational progress on activities related to Climate Biodiversity and Restoration (CBR), one of FSC's four priority actions for 2025.

This involves contributing to the development of a Board-endorsed CBR Strategic Framework and related workplans, particularly in engagement and communication activities.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

The tasks will be varied and include:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and consultants to ensure structural alignment and consistent communication for CBR efforts within FSC, enhancing synergies between workstreams.
  • Support the development of the CBR Strategic Framework and associated workplans:

Provide input and conduct content reviews to ensure the quality of deliverables.

  • Organize and analyze results from consultations, ensuring stakeholder input is integrated into drafts.
  • Develop consultation reports.
  • Plan, organize, and develop materials for workshops, webinars, and side events to engage stakeholders.
  • Monitor discussion channels to track key topics and ensure responsiveness.
  • Develop communication materials to ensure consistent messaging on CBR-related topics for FSC members and stakeholders.
  • Prepare slide decks and reports for internal and external use.
  • Develop a system for monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the progress of implementing the CBR Strategic Framework.
  • Support the implementation and integration of the CBR Strategic Framework into the FSC Global Strategy.
  • Assist in analyzing the feasibility of CBR-related motions and initiatives.
  • Represent FSC externally in meetings and events.
  • Perform additional tasks as agreed with the supervisor.
Your Profile
  • University or technical college degree in climate science, conservation, forestry, environmental sciences, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Training in Project Management, Communications, and/or Business Administration is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in multistakeholder processes, climate, conservation, restoration, or global initiatives.
  • Experience in developing strategic frameworks, policies, or action plans is a plus.
  • Experience working in international organizations, NGOs, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with FSC certification and international environmental policies (e.g., CBD, UNFCCC, IPBES) is advantageous.
  • Strong facilitation skills for leading discussions, workshops, and consultations are a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Good time management, diligence, and accuracy.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, indigenous peoples, NGOs, and industry representatives.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish or French is a plus.
  • Solution-oriented attitude and proficiency with standard software (MS Office).
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relations and a commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full-time, hybrid (2 days/week in the Bonn office).
  • Contract Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of extension to an open-ended contract.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
