Job Description: Cinematic Animator at Cloud Imperium Games

We are a crowdfunded company with a dedicated community of backers, committed to creating the “Best Damn Space Sim Ever”. We value diverse talent and strive for excellence.

Role Overview: As a Cinematic Animator, you will collaborate with a team of Animators and Cinematic Designers to bring performances of industry-leading actors into our narrative for Squadron 42. Your work will involve developing scenes with multiple branching options, deep emotional storytelling, and dynamic action sequences.

About Cloud Imperium Games: Founded in 2012, we develop cutting-edge video games that challenge expectations. Our current projects include Star Citizen, a multiplayer space simulation, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure within the same universe. Responsibilities:

• Ensure that animations and their in-game implementation reflect the performance capture and project needs.
• Utilize motion capture data to create seamless transitions between performance capture and gameplay.
• Develop branching animations in collaboration with cinematic and level design teams.
• Work closely with Narrative, Art, Level Design, Facial Animation, Lighting, VFX, UI, Audio, and Production teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications:

• Professional experience in game animation, preferably on current or next-gen consoles.
• Proactive, self-reliant, and adaptable to new pipelines and tools.
• Strong ability to analyze complex scenes and collaborate effectively with designers.
• Proficiency with Maya, MotionBuilder, or similar software.
• Demonstrated ability to create fluid, realistic animations based on animation fundamentals.
• Ability to identify technical risks and develop innovative solutions.
• Passion for challenging ideas and striving for excellence.
