Chief Engineer (Solar / Wind) (m / f / d)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer with first-hand experience in Eastern European greenfield and brownfield project development across the renewable energy sector.
  • Development, engineering, design review and technical oversight of wind and PV projects.
  • Plan and manage all project development engineering activities.
  • Ensure all engineering and design activities are aligned with company and project environmental, health and safety policies and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain the engineering, design criteria and applicable standards and specifications for wind and PV projects.
  • Support technical diligence on site selection and project acquisitions.
  • Define, review and approve the work of technical consultants to ensure consistent and cost-effective designs and timely delivery.
  • Direct activities of designers, consultants and contractors, and manage meetings and conference calls to achieve efficient use of resources, meet deadlines for deliverables, minimize delays, avoid crises and resolve conflicts.
  • Write, edit and/or review technical scope of work documents, specifications, procedures, site reports, progress reports, feasibility studies, proposals, presentations, etc.; review and negotiate technical aspects of supply (TSA / MSA), EPC and interconnection agreements, etc.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and coordination of proposals, proposal materials, and other marketing efforts in support of the market segment.
  • Contribute to development of engineering capability, project engineering management processes; technology roadmap, software tools, etc.
  • Coordinate with Development team and external consultants to deliver energy models and simulations, electrical schematics, plant and equipment layouts, system cost estimates, technical exhibits, etc.
  • Manage and conduct cost-cutting and optimization analyses, monitor emerging technical regulatory requirements, etc. for project development and operational activities.
  • Act as global procurement project leader throughout the product development process and secure and monitor corresponding deliverables.
  • Support project management and business development teams to assure timely and cost-effective resolution to regulatory, permitting and technical issues associated with the execution and delivery of wind and PV projects.
  • Initiate and drive cost-cutting measures via Design-to-Cost, market/technology scouting, reverse engineering and material standardization.
  • Organize pre-selection and integration workshops with a supply base to generate cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure coordination between suppliers, global procurement and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor supplier development and lead cross-functional reviews to complete tasks and milestones punctually.
  • Ensure availability of frame contracts and development agreements in a cross-functional alignment.

What we expect:

  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Project or Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Economics.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of a CEE language is a must.
  • Confident and experienced in working interdisciplinary engineering field.
  • Profound in working with figures and calculation tools, ability to analyze and illustrate results for decision making.
  • Engineering experience in the wind and/or solar PV project development industry is preferred.
  • Significant relevant experience in the fields of project management, new product introductions, supply chain, procurement engineering.
  • Organized and disciplined combined with analytical skills.
  • Assertive in achieving deadlines and securing deliverables.
  • Result-oriented and independent style of working.
