Job Description

Cashiers’ responsibilities include greeting customers in a friendly manner, answering their questions, performing cash register functions, assisting with general store upkeep, and occasionally assisting with bookwork.

Qualifications

• 3-12 months of cashiering preferred

Job Duties

• Greet customers in a friendly manner and invite them into the cashier lane
• Perform cash register functions proficiently
• Direct customers to merchandise or use radio for assistance as needed
• Answer customer questions in person or by phone within guidelines
• Lift heavy/awkward items
• Handle customer complaints professionally and courteously
• Maintain security measures
• Create a friendly atmosphere and lasting positive impression
• Assist with returns/exchanges, fill out defective slips, and process credits
• Handle special orders and communicate out-of-stocks
• Assist with stocking, receiving, pricing, and tagging merchandise
• Keep shelves and displays tidy
• Assist with store cleaning and maintenance tasks
• Maintain checkout area appearance
• Process rainchecks and farm plan charges
• Perform other duties as requested by management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. Skills include answering phones, filing, ten-key, typing, cash register operation, basic math, light bookwork, maintenance, drafting correspondence, and being reliable, friendly, honest, and patient.

Physical Demands

Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, and dexterity. Occasional lifting over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, squatting. Must be able to work shifts including nights and weekends, and maintain attendance. Vision and manual dexterity are required.

Work Environment and Conditions

Primarily inside store; some outside work in varying weather. Fast-paced environment with deadlines. Possible hazards include burns, cuts, electrical, mechanical risks, dust, fumes, odors, and poor ventilation. Protective gear may be required.

• Distribution Center: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (1st Shift), 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM (2nd Shift)
