Job Description: Cashiers are responsible for greeting customers, answering questions, performing cash register functions, assisting with store upkeep, and occasionally handling bookwork.

Qualifications:

• Preferred: 3-12 months of cashiering experience

Job Duties:

• Greet customers and invite them into the cashier lane
• Operate cash register proficiently
• Assist customers with merchandise and use radio for help when needed
• Answer customer questions professionally
• Handle heavy/awkward items and customer complaints courteously
• Maintain security measures and create a friendly atmosphere
• Assist with returns, exchanges, special orders, and stock merchandise
• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep the store tidy
• Other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to learn phone answering, filing, ten-key, typing, and cash register operations
• Basic math and light bookwork skills
• Reliable, presentable, friendly, honest, and patient

Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, occasional lifting over 50 lbs., and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Must work flexible shifts including nights and weekends.

Work Environment: Mostly inside store, sometimes outside in varying weather. Fast-paced with deadlines. Possible hazards include burns, cuts, electrical, and atmospheric conditions. Protective gear may be required.
