The CH-47 Mechanic (A&P or FCC) performs maintenance and inspections on CH-47 systems, maintaining FAA standards.
Responsibilities include performing the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance, with primary expertise as a CH-47 mechanic. This includes repair functions such as assembly and modification of Army and DoD cross-service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.
Tasks involve installing, connecting, and adjusting systems like fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission; installing and aligning fuselage parts; balancing and installing tail rotor assemblies; rigging flight control systems; incorporating authorized modifications; and conducting operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems.
Must troubleshoot malfunctions, disassemble components, and perform repairs or replacements. Proficiency with hand tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment is required.
Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, five years of recent aircraft maintenance experience, and FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 certification. If not FAA A&P certified, FCC license and additional experience are required.
Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance (NAC-I T1 Public Trust) and a valid US passport for deployment are mandatory. Specific requirements for Germany include TESA approval and the ability to qualify for it, along with travel as needed.
Knowledge and skills required include strong communication, troubleshooting, understanding of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, and familiarity with quality control procedures. Physical requirements include climbing, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and readiness for deployment to combat zones.
