About our client

Our client is a rapidly growing digital services platform specialising in professional development and online courses across various industries. Backed by an established private equity investor, the company is implementing a buy-and-build strategy to expand its presence in the DACH region and beyond. To support this growth and the professionalisation of its financial operations, they are seeking a CFO to join their leadership team. The role is based in Berlin, Germany. What the job involves

  • Playing a key role in driving the company's strategic growth via a buy-and-build strategy
  • Building and managing the finance and controlling functions according to national and international standards, including financial planning, reporting (with KPI reporting to management, shareholders, and the board), accounting, and performance management to enable data-driven decision-making
  • Responsibility for liquidity and treasury management (forecasting, budgeting, accounts receivable management, payroll), implementing cost and performance control systems, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure efficient financial operations and scalability
  • Leading M&A processes (due diligence, post-merger integration) and ensuring the financial and operational alignment of acquired units
  • Managing relationships with banks and other financial partners to secure financing and optimizs working capital for growth and operational needs
  • Enhancing and digitising internal financial processes to ensure the financial infrastructure supports the company's growth trajectory
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for shareholders, board members, auditors, and tax advisors on financial matters, ensuring transparency and clear communication
  • Willingness to travel regularly to other sites in the DACH region
  • Opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as the company grows, including involvement in ESG strategy and reporting, as well as broader operational leadership

Who we are looking for

  • University degree in business administration, finance or a related field
  • Several years of senior management experience in finance and controlling, ideally as CFO, in a digital or tech-driven growth company with private equity backing. Experience in scaling businesses through M&A is highly desirable
  • A strong understanding of private equity dynamics, including KPIs, value creation, investor relations, and the financial aspects of buy-and-build strategies
  • Proven experience in leading M&A processes, conducting due diligence, and driving post-merger integrations, particularly in financial and controlling functions
  • A proactive, hands-on leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong ability to drive change while maintaining operational efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with investors, banks, auditors, and other key stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of financial software, ERP systems, and a keen interest in leveraging technology for operational improvement and scalability
  • Experience in digital platforms, SaaS, online education, or other business services will be highly appreciated
  • Fluent in German and English, with strong written and spoken communication skills in both languages
