About Our Client

Our client is a rapidly growing digital services platform specializing in professional development and online courses across various industries. Backed by an established private equity investor, the company is executing a buy-and-build strategy to expand its presence in the DACH region and beyond. To support this growth and professionalize its financial operations, they are seeking a CFO to join their leadership team. The role is based in Berlin, Germany.

What the job involves

• Driving the company's strategic growth through a buy-and-build strategy.
• Building and managing finance and controlling functions according to national and international standards, including financial planning, reporting (with KPI reporting to management, shareholders, and the board), accounting, and performance management to enable data-driven decisions.
• Managing liquidity and treasury functions (forecasting, budgeting, receivables management, payroll), implementing cost and performance control systems, and preparing financial statements to ensure efficient operations and scalability.
• Leading M&A processes (due diligence, post-merger integration) and ensuring alignment of acquired entities.
• Managing relationships with banks and financial partners to secure financing and optimize working capital.
• Enhancing and digitizing internal financial processes to support growth.
• Serving as the primary contact for shareholders, board members, auditors, and tax advisors on financial matters.
• Willingness to travel within the DACH region.
• Potential for additional responsibilities, including ESG strategy and broader operational leadership.

Who we are looking for

• University degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
• Several years of senior management experience in finance and controlling, preferably as CFO, in a digital or tech-driven growth company with private equity backing. M&A experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of private equity dynamics, KPIs, value creation, investor relations, and buy-and-build strategies.
• Proven experience in leading M&A, due diligence, and post-merger integration, especially in finance and controlling.
• Proactive, hands-on leadership with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in German and English.
• Strong knowledge of financial software, ERP systems, and technological leverage for operational improvements.
• Experience in digital platforms, SaaS, online education, or business services is a plus.
