Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) – HPO – SPANGDAHLEM AFB

Reef Systems is seeking a fully qualified certified athletic trainer to support SPANGDAHLEM AFB.

Introduction:

The Human Performance Optimization (HPO) mission aims to build a holistic approach to address stresses on operators and aircrew, increasing physical and mental capacity, reducing injuries, and accelerating return to duty, ultimately enhancing combat power.

Background:

The HPO initiative emphasizes preserving combat capability by focusing on specific job specialties, including a Physical Therapist sub-specialty for support.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Licensed Athletic Trainer for 5+ years in collegiate, professional, or tactical athletics, aerospace industry, test pilot/astronaut, or similar fields.
  • Graduation from an CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Education Program or equivalent.
  • Current BOC certification, CPR, and AED training.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, with potential after-hours work, not exceeding 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and treat personnel to enhance performance and prevent injuries.
  • Design and implement strength and conditioning programs.
  • Coordinate medical readiness and provide direct evaluation for injuries.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure privacy per HIPAA.
  • Participate in staff meetings and prepare reports on physical and mental readiness.

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship and a Tier 1 background check.
  • Proficiency in demonstrating exercises, hiking, lifting loads up to 55 pounds, and working in austere environments.
  • Contract period of five years.
