About the Opportunity

Are you ready for your next career step? N26 is looking for a Capital Planning Manager to take ownership of capital planning and risk governance within the ICAAP framework at a cutting-edge technology-driven bank.

Who we are

N26 has reimagined banking for today's digital world. Technology and design empower everything we do and it's how we are building the global banking platform the world loves to use. We've eliminated physical branches, paperwork, and hidden fees for an elegant digital experience and supreme savings. Giving people the power to live and bank their way is what gets us out of bed in the morning and inspires the work that we do. We are headquartered in Berlin with offices in multiple cities across Europe, including Vienna and Barcelona, and a 1,500-strong team of more than 80.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and improving capital planning processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and enhancing overall risk governance. You will play a key role in developing and implementing methodologies for capital adequacy assessment, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation.

  1. Lead and enhance capital planning and overall ICAAP governance, ensuring robust risk management and compliance with evolving regulations.
  2. Drive and enhance the risk management and risk controlling of the N26 group, taking ownership of key areas such as RWA calculation, risk appetite, risk policies and decision-making frameworks, limit setting and monitoring, and internal controls.
  3. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as MaRisk, CRR, ICAAP guidelines, and EBA regulatory expectations.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Treasury, and Risk, to align capital planning with business and risk strategy to support informed decision-making and sustainable growth.
  5. Continuously improve risk reporting by developing insightful analyses that support decision-making and capital adequacy discussions.
  6. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators, on ICAAP and capital planning matters.

What you need to be successful:

Background & Skills

  • Master's degree in business/economics, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in risk management, financial risk controlling, or capital planning within the banking sector.
  • Strong understanding of ICAAP frameworks, stress testing, and regulatory requirements (e.g., MaRisk, CRR, EBA guidelines).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing risk governance frameworks, particularly in capital planning and risk appetite setting, ensuring alignment with business and risk strategy.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with an ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable insights.
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels; proficiency in German is a strong advantage for interacting with local regulators and stakeholders.

Traits

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for capital planning processes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate regulatory developments and drive to improve the status quo.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for financial risk management and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and act upon feedback.

What's in it for you:

  • Accelerate your career growth by joining one of Europe's most talked-about disruptors.
  • Employee benefits that range from a competitive personal development budget, work-from-home budget, discounts to fitness & wellness memberships, apps, and public transportation.
  • As an N26 employee, you will have access to a Premium subscription on your personal N26 bank account, as well as subscriptions for friends and family members.
  • Additional day of annual leave for each year of service.
  • A high degree of autonomy and access to cutting-edge technologies — all while working with a friendly team of peers from diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and family statuses.
  • A relocation package with visa support for those who need it.
