SVCC seeks adjunct faculty with Master’s level coursework in Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology) for our Campus Within Walls program. This program provides incarcerated students with higher education opportunities, aiming to equip them with tools for successful re-entry into society and productive citizenship.
The program is vital to SVCC’s mission, emphasizing educational opportunities for all citizens, including incarcerated individuals. The goal is to educate college-ready inmates, helping them attain associate degrees and certificates during incarceration, thereby improving their prospects for employment and societal reintegration.
Qualified candidates must be committed to providing quality education to a diverse student body and be willing to teach in correctional settings. Some travel may be required, with access to a state vehicle or mileage reimbursement.
This part-time position involves teaching Social Sciences classes, which may be scheduled during day, evening, or weekend hours, and may be seated or hybrid. Classes are held at various correctional centers, including:
Positions may be available in spring, summer, or fall semesters. Adjunct faculty typically teach up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring, and up to 8 credit hours during summer. Teaching loads depend on enrollment and staffing needs.
