Overview

Business Development Scientist – Germany

Multiple Locations: Central Germany, near the Dutch border, near the Swiss border)

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing biotech company that is expanding its Business Development team in Germany and is looking for three motivated scientists eager to transition into a commercial career. With state-of-the-art technologies across biologics, translational science, and preclinical development, this is an exciting opportunity to combine scientific expertise with business development and grow alongside an ambitious global organisation.

There is no requirement for previous business development experience; what matters most is a strong scientific background and understanding. You will have a passion for communicating scientific insights, a desire to engage with clients, and the ambition to help build relationships that shape the company’s growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s scientific platforms in immuno-oncology, gene editing, and preclinical pharmacology.
  • Actively identify and engage prospective customers, explore business opportunities, manage negotiations, and secure contracts.
  • Support branding and awareness-building efforts in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Represent the company at relevant trade shows and scientific conferences.
  • Build strong networks with scientists and decision-makers in biotech and biopharma.
Requirements
  • PhD in a bioscience field.
  • 1–2 years of scientific experience post-PhD (postdoc or industry R&D).
  • Strong interest in combining scientific knowledge with business development.
  • Enthusiastic about networking and engaging with leading scientists in biotech and pharma.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for conferences, customer meetings, and vendor shows.
  • No prior BD experience required, comprehensive training and mentoring will be provided.
  • Candidates on valid student or industry work visas can be considered.
