Our client is an international provider of scientific and regulatory services, specializing in supporting brands in the cosmetics and personal care sector. The company does not sell products or equipment but offers high-value B2B services to ensure product safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance.

Its service offering includes safety assessments, microbiological and clinical testing, toxicology, and the preparation of regulatory dossiers for European and international markets. By working closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Development teams, the company enables its clients to bring compliant, high-performing products to market faster.

To support its growth in Germany—particularly around a new in vivo testing center—the company is looking for a Business Development Manager (m / f / d) to lead commercial development in the DACH region.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a hands-on sales role focused on developing new business opportunities and managing client relationships with companies in the cosmetics value chain. You will work closely with internal experts (project managers, scientists, regulatory specialists) and report to the international business development team.

Your main responsibilities :

  • Promote and sell the company’s scientific and regulatory services (safety testing, clinical evaluations, regulatory support, etc.)
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Innovation departments
  • Understand client needs and co-develop tailored technical solutions with internal teams
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, scientific congresses, and industry events
  • Help expand the company’s commercial footprint in Germany and the DACH region

YOUR PROFILE

You may come from a variety of professional backgrounds, such as :

  • Contract manufacturers (CMO / CDMO)
  • Testing laboratories or regulatory consultancies
  • Scientific roles in formulation, quality, or regulatory affairs

What matters most is your ability to engage professionally with scientific and technical stakeholders , to understand complex service offerings, and to develop long-term commercial relationships.

Absolute Requirement :

You must be able to communicate fluently and confidently in German , both written and spoken, with professional-level ease. The role requires daily contact with German-speaking clients in R&D and regulatory roles, many of whom strongly prefer native-level communication.

Key requirements :

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in business development, technical B2B sales, or scientific / technical roles with direct client exposure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, consultative approach, and business mindset
  • Deep understanding of topics such as product safety, efficacy testing, formulation, or regulatory compliance
  • Fluent German (C1 or higher) and professional-level English
  • Based in Germany (ideally in the North) and willing to travel regularly

Additional assets :

  • Experience with clinical or in vivo testing (e.g., patch, SPF, anti-aging, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cosmetic or pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., EU 1223 / 2009, ISO 24444, FDA, EMA)
