Mackinnon Bruce are supporting a global manufacturer of laboratory, pharmaceutical, and bioprocess equipment to find a new Business Development Manager in Germany.
My client has been delivering innovative solutions to the life sciences and healthcare sectors for over four decades. With operations in more than 150 countries, the company is recognised for its commitment to quality, technological innovation, and supporting scientific advancement worldwide.
The role is home/field based covering the whole of Germany, selling the full product portfolio across research laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, biotech and academia.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities using market insights and competitor analysis
- Manage and develop relationships with existing customers across Germany
- Manage the existing channel partners and develop new distribution networks to ensure the full market is covered. Continuously manage the partners with up to date product knowledge and sales support
- Prepare and follow up on quotations and proposals via email, phone, and face-to-face meetings whilst providing technical presentations, and product demonstrations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with channel partners to support sales growth
- Review client specifications and contractual terms to ensure compliance and minimise risk
- Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, marketing, service, and manufacturing to support project delivery
- Provide sales and marketing resources to ensure partners can effectively represent products and services
- Represent the company at exhibitions, trade shows, and industry events
- Maintain accurate customer and sales records in the CRM system
- Provide regular sales forecasts, reports, and territory analysis
- Work closely with marketing teams to increase brand awareness in the German life sciences market

- Minimum 3 years of sales experience, ideally within laboratory or scientific equipment
- Fluent German with strong English communication skills
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with a customer-focused approach
- Experience using CRM systems and working towards sales targets
- Understanding of laboratory workflows and relevant biosafety standards is advantageous
- Highly organised with strong planning and time management skills
- Commercially aware, analytical, and self-motivated
- Able to work independently and manage a territory effectively
- Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and hold a valid driver’s license
