About the Business Development Team:

At eBay, The Business Development Team supports seller acquisition and revenue growth in focused category and regional specific strategic areas of the business by delivering relevant inventory supply to the marketplace. The team identifies prospects, positions the value of eBay’s marketplace and crafts strategic proposals with medium to enterprise sized ecosystem players to extend eBay’s reach. Our goal is to rapidly increase eBay’s footprint, deliver significant business growth for our sellers and offer all the inventory our buyers expect.

Business Development is part of Global Seller Excellence, a broader global team that contributes greatly to the global strategies for new seller acquisition, cross-team business initiatives for new sellers, account management of 3rd party partnerships delivering new sellers to eBay's marketplace, and all aspects of engagement for seller connectivity. Global Seller Excellence owns and leads the strategic supply-focused initiative that works to secure new inventory and widen exposure across the globe for eBay. The Opportunity:

A Business Development Manager (BDM) will support accelerated growth in one of our focused category efforts. The ideal candidate will have led generation and sales experience in luxury (watches, handbags, jewelry) or collectibles (trading cards, collectibles coins, toys, model making) industry and will be passionate about engaging with prospects and aligning with prospective customers’ goals to solution a need where product makes a solve.

At eBay, BDMs specialize in driving lead generation and outreach activities related to sales development and acquisition of new business via prospecting and proposing value pitches to meet prospective seller needs in relation to listing new inventory using eBay’s platform. They develop new leads and identify new opportunities and handle the sales pipeline efficiently. Activities often include desk research for lead generation, targeted telephone prospecting, pitching value opportunities and positioning the benefits directly to Sellers, and onboarding new Sellers to eBay’s marketplace. They work alongside Senior BDMs, who are knowledgeable and experienced category authorities focusing on similar acquisition efforts, and in coordination with Lead BDMs, responsible for development and execution of category acquisition strategy, in collaboration with internal cross-functional partners.

Someone who enjoys execution on day-to-day sales processes, meeting and exceeding exciting objectives, and helping customers achieve outstanding goals will be successful. Detailed success of lead generation/prospecting and sales pipeline management will set you up for success. eBay's Business Development team is fast-paced and constantly evolving. This role will require high levels of activity and task management while driving B2B relationships with Sellers of goods that meet eBay’s strategic supply demands.

What you will accomplish
  1. Identify targets and a network of contacts for both the short- and long-term acquisition of businesses new to eBay. Through running a significant sales pipeline, providing a constant stream of new inventory to site from such brands & sellers.
  2. Own end-to-end pipeline management and close contracts with new sellers, attend networking events and conventions in Germany and Europe.
  3. Report, track and forecast sales activities via CRM.
  4. Analyze pipeline gaps and adjust tactical strategy to meet quarterly goals and objectives where needed.
  5. Constantly innovate, develop your operating model to keep pace with the constantly evolving ecommerce and commerce market plus building the team’s execution and operational capability, this exciting opening will drive procedural change and business performance.
What you will bring:
  1. eCommerce & Marketplaces knowledge: a validated background and understanding of the marketplaces/platform market, its competitors and supporting businesses (i.e. listing management; integrators; logistics; customer services) with a clear point of view on what is required for our partners to succeed in this space. Collectibles and/or Luxury experience is required.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, or related field.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, native language skills in German and fluent in Business English.
  4. Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a range of working styles.
  5. Results oriented and dedicated to time management, self-motivated and accountable.
