About the opportunity
The internal audit function reports directly to the management board. The Business Audit Senior Manager - Focus Risk Manager will evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of the risk management and internal control systems, including all activities and processes, outsourced or not.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting all internal audit activities for N26 AG/N26 Bank AG, including external contractors.
- Leading the full audit cycle, including risk and control management to ensure operational effectiveness, reliability, and compliance.
- Developing and updating an annual risk-oriented business audit plan.
- Auditing all activities and processes of N26 AG/N26 Bank AG and its subsidiaries within a three-year cycle.
- Preparing comprehensive internal audit reports.
- Ensuring audit work complies with professional and regulatory standards.
- Supervising and reviewing junior team members' audit work.
- Reporting audit findings to management and communicating results to operational units.
- Monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Participating in key projects, maintaining independence and avoiding conflicts of interest.
- Conducting special audits as requested by management.
- Preparing quarterly and annual reports for the management board and committees.
- Maintaining internal audit policies and procedures.
- Acting as deputy to the Head of Internal Audit when required.
- Responding to regulator and supervisory authority requests.
Special focus areas:
- Reviewing audit frameworks for financial and non-financial risks.
- Participating in and preparing the annual risk-based audit plan.
- Conducting risk assessments and providing advice on risk mitigation.
- Following up on audit measures and review of recommendation implementation.
Authority and rights:
- Unrestricted access to information, documentation, and systems necessary for audit tasks.
- Notification of relevant management decisions and amendments to risk management systems.
Minimum qualifications:
- Degree in mathematics, economics, business administration, or related field.
- Several years of experience in risk controlling, validation, or auditing of financial and non-financial risks, preferably in banking or finance sectors.
- At least 7 years of experience as an internal auditor in an international, regulated environment.
- Strong process understanding and knowledge of online banking and retail products.
- Good understanding of banking laws and IT systems, with willingness to learn local regulations.
- Proficiency in German and English (C1 level); additional European languages are a plus.
