Zusammenfassung

University of Cologne is seeking a Biomedical Data Manager to support genomic data analysis, data governance, and ML-driven research on aging and mutagenesis. You will design data infrastructures, metadata schemas, and SOPs while collaborating with genetics researchers and the CE CAD cluster.

Strong Linux, Python, R, and communication skills are required for this full-time role. The position is based in Cologne, with a focus on secure handling of large genomics datasets and interdisciplinary

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in bioinformatics, bioengineering, genetics, or related field
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix command-line
  • Familiarity with HPC storage architectures
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic approach
  • Understanding of genetics, genomics data types and large data volumes
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

Aufgaben

  • Design and implement standardized folder hierarchies and naming conventions across HPC storage systems
  • Develop metadata schemas to enable data collection, retrieval, and lifecycle management for large data volumes
  • Collaborate on SOPs for genomic data analysis, including machine learning and deep learning
  • Develop guidelines for organizing personally sensitive data and best practices for research teams
  • Lead and participate in research projects in somatic mutagenesis and collaborate with researchers
  • Advise researchers on data organization best practices
  • Develop documentation, templates, and standard operating procedures

The Poetsch Group is looking for a Biomedical DataManager (f/m/x) to support the team in its research ongenomes and their changes with age, as well as on thedevelopment of cancer. The position focuses on the collaborative development of an infrastructure and workflow for data analysis and the application of machine learning to awide range of datasets on somatic mutagenesis.

YOUR TASKS» Designing and implementing standardized folder

hierarchies and naming conventions acrossHPC storage systems

» Development of metadata schemas to enable efficientdata collection, retrieval, and data lifecycle managementfor large quantities of data

» Collaborative implementation of standard operatingprocedures for the analysis of genomic data, includingthe application of machine learning and deep learning

» Implementation of research projects in the field ofsomatic mutagenesis and collaboration with researchers

» Advising Researchers on best practices for dataorganization

YOUR PROFILE» Bachelor‘s or Master‘s degree in bioinformatics,

bioengineering, genetics, or a related field» Strong experience with Linux/Unix command-line

» Familiarity with HPC storage architectures and

» An understanding of scientific research processes in

genetics, data types in genomics, and the correspondingly large volumes of data

» Excellent communication skills to work with diversetechnical and non-technical users
