Jobbeschreibung

Overview

terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage. The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match. By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms.

What We Are Hiring For - Your Role

As part of our Project Delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of our projects from Ready to Build to Commercial Operation, with smooth delivery to Asset Management. Your experience in project engineering in the environment of construction within the renewable energy sector will allow the BESS projects we build to meet the highest quality standards. Your technical expertise allows you to challenge the "usual practice" and to proactively find disruptive approaches to optimize project processes, execution timelines and costs. You will join our team at an early stage of the company life, with the opportunity to participate in shaping our BESS fleet expansion strategy.

Successful candidates deeply care about having a positive impact on accelerating the energy transition. We are seeking a candidate who can strike a balance between swift execution and maintaining a high standard of work quality. Our ideal candidate is a team player who successfully collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance, and reliable BESS projects.

What You Will Work On - Your Responsibilities
  • Support the project development team
    • Assess projects viability at early staged.
    • Review BESS projects tenders documentation produced by internal and external project developers.
  • Manage projects and associated risks
    • Ensure that all works are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    • Identify and help mitigating risks in our BESS projects.
    • Review and maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation including project schedules and cost tracking documentation.
    • Collaborate with a cross-functional project team, especially with the project engineer assigned to the same projects.
    • Ensure smooth handover from projects execution to asset management.
  • Stakeholder management, oversee engineering and site activities
    • Coordinate with and oversee our contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders during the engineering, procurement and construction phases.
    • Site visits during construction and commissioning to ensure highest HSE standards and quality of the works.
  • Bring BESS expertise and optimise processes
    • Your BESS expertise will help improving our project execution strategy.
    • Find ways to disruptively reduce project execution timelines.
What We Are Looking For - Your Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years working in construction projects in the energy sector, preferably in the construction of BESS.
  • Project management skills: Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks in multiple projects, keep an overview on schedules and costs vs. budget evolvement. Understanding where intervention is required and how this is done effectively. Ability to report in a lean and precise way about project status.
  • Technical expertise: Good understanding of electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Staying highly professional and pragmatic even in dense situations.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyse and solve complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Self-directed: Ability to make decisions, set priorities and work independently based on high-level targets of the business and team.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. As several external interfacing parties, like DSOs and authorities will communicate exclusively in German language, at least conversational German skills are required.
  • Continuous Learning: A passion for learning and staying updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Language Proficiency: Full business proficiency in English and at least conversational German.
  • Mobility: Valid German driver’s license (Class B), willing to travel to construction sites.
Why You Should Be Excited About This Opportunity
  • Our purpose: Join us in building up an asset fleet that has the potential to make a positive impact on society and our planet by addressing the massive deficit in global energy storage.
  • Focus on innovation: Building our asset fleet following our technology agnostic approach means you will have the opportunity to work with the highest industry standard equipment.
  • Impact: Your contribution will not only have a positive impact on society; by joining our small and nimble team, your work will make a difference from day one.
  • Personal development: You will benefit from a learning & development budget of 1,000 EUR per calendar year that you can use for your individual professional development.
