What you’ll do
- Develop partnerships with major European consumer goods brands, focusing on merchants in the DACH and CEE regions.
- Analyze market opportunities and needs among major European consumer goods merchants, starting with the DACH countries.
- Collaborate with acquirers, payment service providers, and payment processors to distribute Alipay+ offers to selected key accounts.
- Drive merchant business development and growth operations in the region through merchant acquisition, marketing campaigns, and daily operations, utilizing our platform capabilities and resources.
- Demonstrate merchant, partner, and user value through a deep understanding of our platforms.
- Coordinate with Alipay European and headquarters' teams to meet objectives.
- Assess Alipay's potential to meet German brands' needs, including new products and solutions.
- Evaluate existing and potential acquiring partners to support merchant opportunities.
- Manage the full sales cycle to promote Alipay acceptance at POS with key accounts.
- Coordinate legal and compliance aspects during commercial negotiations.
- Coordinate product and technical teams for payment acceptance implementation and integration at POS.
- Monitor partner and merchant performance, proposing improvements as needed.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in Fintech or the payment industry.
- Understanding of online and offline retail industries and their strategic and commercial dynamics.
- Connections with major European Key Accounts and ecosystem players (e.g., acquirers, payment platforms, retail providers) at C-level and operational levels are a plus.
- Experience in or with the retail industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of offline and online payment solutions, products, and performance metrics.
- Strong communication skills, with a proactive sales approach and pioneering spirit.
- Ability to work under pressure in an international environment (UK, Europe, Asia, America) and adapt quickly to strategic changes.
- Knowledge of card payments and alternative payment methods (wallets, BNPL, A2A).
- Familiarity with the Chinese/Asian payment market and global shopping and travel patterns is a plus.
- Cross-regional work experience is preferred.
- Fluency in English and German is required; knowledge of Chinese and other European languages is a plus.
