Hauptaufgaben

Provides professional engineering services in civil and architectural fields for the Engineering, Plans, and Services Division of the Directorate of Public Works. Responsibilities include reviewing designs for construction projects prepared by in-house engineers, Architect/Engineer firms, Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB), and others like the Corps of Engineers (EUD). Ensures designs are constructible, materials are available, and facilities meet customer requirements. Projects range from $25,000 to over $5 million.

Performs value-engineering reviews to include cost-effective construction materials and methods, recommending design changes to reduce costs and improve utility, layout, and materials.

Verifies that materials meet specifications and safety regulations, including fire and health codes. Uses surveying techniques to verify layouts and perform tests on utility systems and structural components.

Develops project designs, prepares estimates, participates in negotiations, evaluates change requests, and functions as Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Ensures contractor compliance, inspects work, and manages contract performance, including attending meetings and certifying invoices and reports.

Inspects ongoing projects to ensure contractual and quality standards are met, supervising lower-level engineers and inspectors.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

Qualification Requirements :

Applicants must meet Education & Training Levels as per the provided link. For this position, applicants need to be graduates from a recognized German institution (Fachhochschule, Berufsakademie, or Technische Hochschule) in engineering, fully recognized by German authorities. Foreign applicants must obtain equivalent certification.

  • Possession of a German driver's license class B.
  • Office automation skills required.
  • Knowledge of AGB 75 (Principles of Construction Contracting) and Construction Law (VOB, LBauO) is desired and required respectively.

Language Proficiency Level :

English and German language proficiency at C1 level required.
