Jobbeschreibung

As a Software Engineer in the Identity team, you will work on providing top-tier authentication experiences and account protection for millions of users globally, as well as develop central services that enable teams and products across SumUp.

We're seeking someone who is adaptable, proactive, and eager to take ownership. Your main focus will be on backend development in Go, but you will also have opportunities to work on web, infrastructure, and mobile development, depending on your skills. Prior experience in these areas isn’t mandatory—just a willingness to learn and get hands-on.

As part of a team with a broad scope, you'll collaborate with other engineers on various initiatives. You’ll have the freedom to choose projects that interest you and the flexibility to switch between them. You will also have the opportunity to take ownership and drive projects from requirements gathering and design to deployment and stakeholder communication.

About the team :

We are a cross-functional, engineering-driven team committed to impactful projects. We maintain lean processes to stay effective and adaptable. Personal fit is important to us; we value a team-first mentality and cohesive collaboration beyond just technical skills.

What you'll do :

  • Design and build reliable APIs, including the next generation of our User and Permission APIs, facilitating smooth migrations.
  • Enhance our authentication and authorization services for internal and external users.
  • Develop solutions that improve app security and protect users from fraud and account takeovers.
  • Create secure, user-friendly self-service features for account and contact preferences management.
  • Collaborate with a distributed team that values learning and continuous improvement.

We want you to enjoy your work and be paid to do what you love.

You’ll be great for this role if you have :

  • Experience in backend or full-stack development, mainly with Go. Knowledge of other languages like TypeScript, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, or Swift is a plus.
  • Interest in security and reliability topics; experience with authentication and authorization technologies like OAuth or Multi-Factor Authentication is beneficial.
  • A flexible mindset and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, with a proven quick-learning ability.
  • A structured, proactive work style, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • A drive to improve systems and processes pragmatically.
  • Confidence in seeking help or using tools like search engines or AI assistants when needed.
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, essential for a global team.

Why you should join SumUp :

  • Work with a global team on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, primarily from our Berlin office.
  • Participate in Hack Days every second Friday to foster learning and experimentation.
  • Be part of a diverse and inclusive workplace that values different perspectives.
  • Access a dedicated annual L&D budget of €2,000 for conferences and further education.
  • Own a stake in SumUp’s future success through our VSOP program.
  • Benefit from a corporate pension scheme with up to 20% matching.
  • Enjoy a 30-day sabbatical after three years of employment.
  • Earn referral bonuses by recommending talented colleagues.
  • Additional benefits include Urban Sports Club subsidy, Kita placement assistance, relocation support, and subsidized lunches.
