WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Back-End Web Applications Developer – European Commission

We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer to join our client’s Information Systems team, supporting digital solutions in public health, food safety, and internal market domains. This role involves working closely with policy units to develop, maintain, and optimize core applications and systems that support health, food safety, and regulatory initiatives across Europe.

Responsibilities include developing secure, scalable back-end applications, designing APIs, implementing security measures, creating scalable solutions, writing clean code, troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining technical documentation.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proven 7+ years in back-end development with Java (JDK8 or later) and JEE (version 7 or later), including XML and SOAP web services.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle RDBMS.
• At least 5 years of experience with Git or SVN, especially with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo).
• Understanding of web development cycle, programming techniques, and optimization.
• Experience in implementing security and data protection in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
