WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Back-End Web Applications Developer – European Commission
We seek an experienced Back-End Developer to join our client’s Information Systems team, supporting digital solutions in public health, food safety, and internal market domains. The role involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing core applications and systems that support health, food safety, and regulatory initiatives across Europe. You will contribute to creating secure, scalable, and high-performing back-end applications that align with our mission to protect human health, animal welfare, and food safety within Europe.

YOUR TASKS

1. Develop back-end web applications, implementing core business logic.
2. Design and optimize applications for speed and scalability.
3. Develop APIs for system integration.
4. Implement security and data protection measures for compliance and confidentiality.
5. Participate in designing scalable software solutions.
6. Write clean, functional code, ensuring code integrity and organization.
7. Analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot and improve systems.
8. Test and fix bugs to ensure high functionality.
9. Create technical documentation for maintenance and updates.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years experience in back-end development with Java (JDK8 or later) and JEE (version 7 or later), including XML and SOAP web services (e.g., JAX-WS).
• Strong proficiency in Oracle RDBMS.
• At least 5 years experience with Git or SVN, especially with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo).
• Understanding of web development cycle, programming techniques, and optimization.
• Experience in implementing security and data protection in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Permanent employment with competitive compensation and benefits.
